How to Fail a Sleep Apnea Test

Obesity is a metabolic disorder, not a moral failure. With appropriate therapy and management, it is possible to control or even reverse it. But shaming someone for it is just plain insensitive.

Also @Rusty: You can search for the manuals online. If you don't find them, you could still try accessing the Clinician's menu on your CPAP. Set the knob to SETUP. Then hold down both the buttons and wait for the machine to beep. Then turn to SETUP. You are now in the Clinician's Menu.

    AirFit P10

Although they had first told me about 6 months cycle for a full face mask, now Medicare replaces everything once in three months for me. I get a new headgear along with a set of nasal cushions in all sizes. They give me a new humidifier chamber once in six months and a new filter each month. I...

    Nasal Pillows

When I visited my DME to get my machine, they already had the small nasal pillow fixed to the tube. That's the way I was handed my machine and I wasn't given any more pillows to spare. They didn't have me try the machine or mask for fit or for leaks. I don't think they switched on the machine...

    Homemade FFM Liner

I tried the method, made some liners last night and used them with my mask. It stopped the leaks for sure. But every time I take off my mask, the liner would drop off from it and then I can't even find it again! I am going to try again though, this time around with T shirt fabric. I could even...

    CPAP Masks for Side Sleepers

There is this post "Taming the Mirage Quattro" on my blog, which has tips that work with any air cushion mask in general like the FX or any other brand. Well not to say that I don't get any leaks myself. I do. But that doesn't bother me all that much because my AHI is only in small numbers. I...

    Ponaris

I suffered a lot from severe sinus infections, wracking cough and sneezing, post nasal drip, and stuff, for 15 years. I tried everything from claritin, allergra to nasonex and what not. Nothing worked for me other than giving me the side effects of viral infections. My doctor had told me my...

    REM Rebound

It is possible that the pressure is not sufficient for your needs of apnea treatment. In that case, you may have to get yourself tested once again. Ask your doctor and get an appointment for fresh sleep test. Your CPAP is not set to/ is unable to deliver the required pressure. Either that or...

    Lunesta generic

I have found 3.0mg Lunesta to be most effective. Now I am scaling it down to 2.0mg and it still works for me. I am very upset with people who like branded drugs over generics saying the two are not quite the same. As a professional in the field, I know from experience this difference is...

    Flonase vs. Nasonex

Both Nasonex and Flonase are used for problems like sneezing and a stuffy, runny, or itchy nose caused by allergic reaction. If your symptoms are not because of allergy, you can still benefit from Flonase, not Nasonex. Flonase relieves itchy or watery eyes too, whether due to allergy or not....

    Breatheheavy Exhale

It had seemed to me that the warm humid air makes you feel like you are suffocating for oxygen. It's very likely that it is not the mask at all.

Wake Me up in 2 Hours

I would think the compliance period of four hours for insurance purposes is "total," not "continuous." I am not sure though. On a different note, it also seems the CPAP cannot tell if you are sleeping or awake so long as you are wearing it and breathing though it. If that is so, you could have...

    Resmed S10

I think you can go for to the S9 Elite with the full memory card and that will work smoothly for 12000-14000 hours of sleep. That should be some five-six years' use. You can then change it because the turbine's life would have ended by then. Even so, the S10 is just as good as the S9, it's only...

    Transcend CPAP

I use my Transcend inside a semi truck that is fitted with a sleeper berth. The air in this place is bone dry. That makes it necessary for me to use humidification. I have used the CPAP with HME (Heat Moisture Exchange, i.e., waterless humidification) as well as without. It helps to have...

    Dry Mouth at Night

You get a dry mouth when air leaks from your mask or if you have your mouth open when you sleep. It may be more common among those who use nasal masks or nasal pillows. You can ask your doctor for the right medication to prevent dry mouth caused by using CPAP. Your doctor may also advise you...

    Neti Pot Death

Untreated tap water may contain the brain-eating ameba Naegleria fowleri that causes primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM), a disease of the central nervous system. The microbe enters the nose and travels to the sinuses. I think this bug likes healthy children and young people, maybe those...

    Trilogy Machine

A Trilogy machine is believed to be highly efficient. The doctors advised my husband to use one. It's quite small and weighs very little. Comes with a carrying handle and looks like some small TV. He uses it with a full face mask. We rent it and it's quite affordable that way.
